Default UV Size

This option adjusts the size of the UV space of the FACT to the size entered in the boxes.

The UV space of an OBJ has in most cases a size of one by one. This is handy because native OBJ applications and applications that use the same UV paradigm can fit any texture to this square automatically.

To convert the OBJ's UV space to one by one just enter 1x1 into the value boxes.

The UV space In Electric Image is not limited to this size. The size of a texture is measured in EI-units. A texture which is 1000x1000 pixels in size will fit on a polygon with a size of 1000x1000 units with a scale of 1. If the model is bigger or smaller than the map the texture will be scaled to the dimensions of the model or its UV space if you use the auto alignment function within EI's texture placement window. This may not always be what you want if you are dealing with UV texture placement.

By default an imported texture will always be located at 0,0,0 in EI's texture space, facing front, and will be scaled to 1,1,1. If the UV texture space of the FACT has the same dimension as the texture, the texture will fit the object correctly after the import. This makes it unnessesary to manually align the texture afterwards.

Note: This setting will effect the converted FACT globally. Any group in the converted FACT will have an UV space of the same specified size as long as you are not using a .mtl file and the "Get UV Size from Textures" option. To make sure textures align properly, it is recommended that you scale every texture - diffuse, bump, specular etc. - that you are going to use on any group of the FACT to the dimensions that you have specified in the "Texture Size" boxes during the conversion.
