Use .mtl File |
||||||||||||||
Uses .mtl (material) files of the corresponding OBJ and writes their info into the FACT file. Unlike in the FACT file format, material information is not stored in an OBJ file. Some applications write out an additional .mtl file that contains some material attributes like color, specular, transparency, refraction index and so on, as well as info about the textures used by the corresponding OBJ file. If you have a .mtl file that includes the properties of the OBJ file you would like to convert, you can check "Use .mtl File". OBJ2FACT will write all available information including texture assignment into the FACT file. For OBJ2FACT to automatically find the .mtl file it has to have the same name as the OBJ, for example, Head.obj and Head.mtl, and both files have to be in the same directory. Note: If you use this option and you do not have a matching .mtl file you will get an error message. Note: If you have objects in the OBJ file that use more then one material, and you have not checked "Separate by Material", OBJ2FACT will take the first material it finds in the .mtl file and use it for the whole object. When you open the FACT in EI, you will be asked to find the corresponding textures for the FACT file as long as they are not in the same directory as the FACT file. Locate the textures - which should have been converted to the IMAGE file format already. All textures will be loaded into the proper channels of the correct group. Note: OBJ2FACT writes an uniform sized UV space into the FACT which you have entered in the "Default UV Size" boxes. In order to avoid alignment problems, all textures should be scaled to the same size. For custom sized UV spaces use the "Get UV Size from Textures" option. |
